Description
Ditch the hum, hiss, and inductance drag of old-school wire-wound humbuckers without giving up the tones you actually love. Fishman’s Fluence Classic set pairs a neck and bridge pickup, each built around the Fluence Core — an active design that stays dead quiet even through long cable runs, high-gain amps, or a whole pedalboard’s worth of gain stages.
What makes Fluence genuinely different is the Multi-Voice architecture. Flip a switch (or wire it to a push-pull, your call) and each pickup jumps between two distinct, musically useful personalities instead of a weak coil-tap compromise. The bridge goes from a calibrated Vintage P.A.F. voice at 2.25kHz peak frequency to a Classic Hotrod voice at 1.6kHz for more push. The neck moves from a warm, dynamic Vintage P.A.F. character (2.6kHz peak) into a Fluence-exclusive clear/airy chime voice with extended highs, vocal mids, and tight low end (peaks at 4.5kHz and 350Hz).
Both pickups share Alnico V bar magnets with individual pole pieces, 140 Gauss typical string strength, 2k output impedance, and a 2.5mA current draw that stretches a standard 9-volt battery to roughly 200 hours — or go further with Fishman’s optional rechargeable lithium-ion pack and skip battery changes entirely.
- Bridge pole spacing: 52.6mm
- Neck pole spacing: 49mm
- Drop-in replacement for standard humbucker routs
- Runs on 9V battery or optional lithium-ion pack
Volume rolls off cleanly with no loss of top end, tone stays consistent at any output level, and you get vintage warmth and modern clarity in one control-friendly package.
