Description
Killswitch Engage guitarists Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel needed a pickup set that could do the job of several different guitars at once — active clarity for the heavy stuff, passive warmth and dynamics for cleans and crunch, and enough versatility to stop swapping instruments mid-set. This is the result: a three-voice Fluence set built around their specific tonal demands.
Voice 1 is a modified take on Fishman’s Modern Fluence recipe, tightened up in the bass and dialed back slightly in output so pick attack and harmonics stay articulate under gain. Voice 2, on the ceramic bridge unit, is described by the pair as their holy grail passive tone — a vintage-leaning, medium-output hybrid voice that handles cleans, crunch, and searing leads with equal ease. The neck pickup rounds things out with a fluid, crystalline clean character. Both pickups also offer a single coil voice, giving you a genuine hot active split alongside a true vintage passive single-coil tone, all accessible via the push-pull voice selector.

- 1 ceramic pickup for the bridge position, 1 alnico pickup for the neck or middle position
