Description
The Fluence Modern isn’t trying to sound like an old-school passive humbucker with more output slapped on — it’s a different design philosophy entirely. Fishman’s Fluence Core technology sidesteps the inductance and coil-wind quirks that give traditional pickups their character (and their noise floor), then rebuilds tone from the ground up using multiple stacked coils instead of a single wire-wound one.
What that means for you: dead-quiet operation, no signal loss over long cable runs, and two genuinely distinct voices on tap from one pickup — not a coil-tap compromise, but two fully realized tones.
- Voice 1 — Modern Active: the archetypal active-ceramic snarl. Crisp top end, tight low end with zero mud, and an aggressive growl built for high-gain rhythm and lead work. Peak frequency: 720kHz.
- Voice 2 — Modern Active High Output: a more organic, passive-flavored ceramic voice with higher output and superb distortion response, while keeping Fluence’s dynamic feel. Peak frequency: 1.89kHz.
Under the hood: a Ceramic VIII bar magnet with blades delivers 145 gauss at the string, output impedance sits at 2k, and current draw is a miserly 2.5mA. Wire it for set-and-forget use, or add a switch to toggle between voices on the fly. It runs on a standard 9V for roughly 200 hours, or swap in Fishman’s optional rechargeable lithium-ion pack for weeks of stage time without ever thinking about batteries again.
Drop-in ready for standard humbucker routing, in a ceramic/nickel finish that fits right into most Modern-voiced builds.
