Fishman tore up the wire-wound rulebook with Fluence, and this 7-string Modern Humbucker set proves why. Instead of coils, you get the Fluence Core — a noiseless, inductance-free foundation that lets each pickup carry two genuinely different personalities instead of the usual single, fixed voice.
- Neck (Alnico V): Voice 1 is the Modern Active alnico sound — full, round, boosted, with an articulation and dynamic range coil-wound humbuckers can’t touch (peak 630Hz). Voice 2 flips to a crisp, clean, fluid neck tone that avoids the thin, plinky trap most clean humbucker settings fall into (peak 550Hz/8kHz).
- Bridge (Ceramic III): Voice 1 delivers searing, tight-bass crunch with real growl (peak 720Hz). Voice 2 goes organic and high-output — passive-feeling ceramic drive with superb distortion behavior and Fluence’s signature dynamics (peak 1.3kHz).
Both pickups use a bar magnet with blades design, drop straight into existing 7-string humbucker routs, and run dead quiet no matter how long your cable run gets — 20, 30, 50 feet, doesn’t matter, the signal stays intact. Volume changes don’t cost you top end or clarity either.
Wire them set-and-forget for one voice, or add a switch to toggle between both on the fly. Power comes from a standard 9V battery (roughly 200 hours on the neck, 170 on the bridge) or an optional rechargeable lithium-ion pack for weeks of stage time instead of hours.
