The Prefix Premium Blend is Fishman’s answer to the age-old acoustic dilemma: pickups sound direct but a bit flat, mics sound natural but feed back at the first sign of volume. This system gives you both, plus a slider to blend them exactly how you want. The Acoustic Matrix undersaddle pickup handles string definition and punch, while a miniature internal gooseneck microphone pulls in the soundboard’s air and resonance — the parts of your guitar’s voice a pickup alone can’t reach.
Because mixing in a mic invites feedback, Fishman built in the tools to control it: a phase switch and an adjustable notch filter, so you can push stage volume without the system turning against you. There’s also a wide-range semi-parametric EQ alongside bass, treble, and volume controls, letting you dial out problem frequencies rather than just boosting or cutting everything equally.
Everyday usability gets attention too — a built-in chromatic tuner works without needing to plug in, a low battery indicator warns you before you’re caught out mid-set, and a pivoting design gives instant access to the 9-volt battery without tools.
