Description
The Anthem SL is L.R. Baggs’ answer to a problem every gigging acoustic player knows well: how do you get true mic tone on stage without the feedback headaches? Their solution is the Tru-Mic, a featherweight condenser that adheres to the bridge plate inside your guitar’s X-brace. At just half an ounce, it doesn’t choke the top’s natural movement, and sitting a mere 3mm off the guitar surface lets it soak up the sound of the entire vibrating soundboard while staying remarkably resistant to feedback compared to typical mic/pickup hybrids.
- Tru-Mic dimensions: 2.27″ x .735″ x .48″, weighing only 0.5 oz
- Mic frequency range: 250Hz – 20kHz
- Element undersaddle transducer adds low-end punch and authority beneath the mic signal
- Active sensor length: 3.4″, pickup thickness .038″, width .092″
- Works across standard string spacings and saddle widths for even output
- Discrete studio-grade preamp lives in the endpin jack, with an optimized preset blend of both signals (requires 1/2″ mounting hole)
- Soundhole-mounted volume control with fingertip access plus a mic gain trim
- Runs on a single 9V battery, rated for about 170 hours of use
The Element transducer isn’t there to dominate the tone — it quietly reinforces the low frequencies the mic alone can’t project with the same punch, giving you a balanced, full-range voice that still sounds like an acoustic guitar rather than a DI’d approximation of one. Professional installation is recommended for the undersaddle pickup portion of the system, but once it’s in, you’ve got a setup built for players who care about nuance under stage volume.
