Description
Some acoustic gigs call for studio-mic realism, others demand a pickup that can shove back against a loud stage mix without howling. The iMix refuses to make you pick a side. It pairs the iBeam — famous for capturing tone with a fidelity that rivals top studio mics — with the Element, prized for its presence and resistance to feedback, then lets you blend the two through a compact all-discrete Class A FET preamp/mixer.
Both pickups get their own tunable mid contour, and the iBeam adds a variable low cut so you can dial in exactly how much low end sneaks through. Run it mono or in split stereo, depending on how your rig and front-of-house prefer to work.
Control comes from L.R. Baggs’ Remote Control II, a soundhole-mounted dual controller that attaches without any modification to your guitar. It puts master volume and the iBeam/Element mix right where your hand naturally rests, so you can react in real time instead of reaching for a stompbox or rack unit mid-set.
For players who want the tonal depth of a dual-source setup but aren’t interested in cutting their guitar for an internal preamp or hauling extra outboard gear, the iMix packages both pickups and the mixing electronics into one clean, non-invasive install.
