Description
The Hot Gold set takes Lace’s classic Micro Matrix Comb design and juices it with upgraded Barium Ferrite magnets, so you get that unmistakable 50’s-style single coil chime without the noise, hum, or squeal that usually comes with vintage-voiced Strat pickups. No battery, no preamp, just honest magnetic output shaped for touch-sensitive playing.
This particular configuration pairs two 6.0k Hot Golds in the neck and middle with a hotter 13.2k Hot Bridge, giving you the classic in-between quack and shimmer at positions 1-4, then a serious jump in output and cut when you roll into the bridge for leads. It’s the move if you love the traditional Strat voice but want the bridge pickup to actually fight back against a cranked amp.
Comes finished in white to match a stock Strat pickguard.
Setup tips — pickup height (measured from string to pole piece, fretted at the 21st fret):
- High E — Neck: 1.5mm, Middle: 2.0mm, Bridge: 1.0mm
- Low E — Neck: 2.5mm, Middle: 3.5mm, Bridge: 2.0mm
Start here and nudge closer or farther from the strings to dial in your preferred balance of output and clarity.
Where it shines: rock, blues, R&B, country, funk, jazz, pop — basically anywhere you want a hotter take on that 50’s bell-like Strat tone.
Reference points: Clapton, Hendrix, Beck, Townshend, Bonamassa, Buddy Guy.
