Description
The Emerald is part of the Lace Sensor lineup that rethought what a single coil could do. Instead of relying on the usual bobbin-and-magnet setup, it uses Lace’s Micro Combs and a Radiant Field Barrier — a metal shield surrounding the coil and magnets — to kill 60-cycle hum while actually widening the tonal window and tightening string-to-string balance.
Where a conventional single coil is only sensing your strings across 4 to 12 magnetic points, the Emerald reads them across 36 separate sensing fields. That denser sampling means more of the string’s actual vibration gets captured, including harmonic content that typically gets lost. The payoff is a signal-to-noise ratio that’s unusually clean for a single coil, paired with a more layered, complex voice.
Because the Sensor design works so efficiently, it can run on much weaker magnets than a standard pickup needs. Less magnetic pull means less string drag — so instead of the pitch-bending, sustain-choking effect you get from overly hot magnets, your notes ring out longer and hold their true pitch from attack to decay.
Fitted with a white cover, this Emerald is built for that classic Texas-style spank and shimmer, minus the noise floor that usually comes with it.
- 36 magnetic sensing fields vs. 4–12 in standard pickups
- Radiant Field Barrier shields against 60-cycle hum
- Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins for wider tonal range and better string balance
- Lower-energy magnets reduce string dampening for increased sustain and truer pitch
- White cover
Setup tip: Set string-to-pickup height at approximately .170
