The Lace Sensor Red is the powerhouse of the Sensor lineup, tuned to give single-coil players the kind of push and punch normally reserved for humbuckers — without giving up single-coil articulation. It’s the natural pick for the bridge slot, where you want the note to jump out front without turning to mush.
What sets Sensors apart starts under the cover. Instead of a traditional bobbin, each pickup uses Lace’s patented Micro Combs and a surrounding Radiant Field Barrier — a metal shield that does double duty. It chokes off 60-cycle hum before it becomes a problem, and it shapes a broader, more focused sensing field around the string. Where a conventional pickup reads the string through 4 to 12 magnetic zones, a Sensor reads it through 36, capturing more of the string’s actual motion and a richer spread of harmonics.
Because that sensing field is so efficient, Lace can get away with lower-energy magnets than standard designs require. Less magnetic pull means less physical drag on the string, so notes sustain longer and hold their true pitch instead of bending flat as they decay — a subtle but real difference you’ll feel under your fingers.

Setup tip from Lace: for best tone and output, set the string-to-pickup gap at roughly .170″ — about the stacked height of two dimes and a nickel — measuring from the bottom of the string closest to the pickup.
