Description
Raw Vintage built the RV-50 for one reason: to nail the warm, articulate single-coil voice that defined an era, without cutting corners to get there. These aren’t shortcuts dressed up as “vintage” — they’re the product of real research, real amp time, and real hands on the winder.
Every RV-50 is hand assembled at Raw Vintage’s shop in sunny Southern California using Alnico 5 magnets, single Formvar copper wire wound to period-correct thickness and wrap, and old-school push-back cloth leads. The bobbins get dipped through layers of lacquer and wax, locking in that clean, microphonic-free clarity while still letting the pickup breathe.
Plug them in and you’ll hear it immediately: an open, airy character with a sweet, spanky top end, firm low end, and a midrange that’s complex without getting muddy. There’s a punchy attack that lets your playing dynamics come through instead of getting buried under compression or excess output. It’s the kind of tone that lets your guitar’s natural wood and harmonics do the talking.
- Alnico 5 magnets for classic vintage output and feel
