Description
This is the pairing a lot of players land on once they figure out what they actually want: vintage-correct sweetness up top, more grunt down at the bridge. The SH-1n ’59 in the neck position is Seymour Duncan’s take on the late-’50s P.A.F. formula—plain enamel wire, long-legged baseplate, no logo, and vacuum wax potting so it stays quiet under gain. Expect clear, slightly scooped-mid cleans and distorted tones that stay full without turning muddy. It covers a lot of ground: country, blues, jazz, funk, classic rock, even heavier styles when you need a smoother second voice.
Down at the bridge, the SH-5 Duncan Custom takes that P.A.F. DNA and adds muscle. It’s built around a ceramic magnet and a custom coil design that tightens up the low end and pushes a distinctive midrange/high-end bite forward—great for cutting through a dense band mix or handling dropped tunings without losing definition. Compressed dynamics and a punchy low end make it a natural for classic rock, hard rock, funk, punk, R&B, and metal. It ships with 4-conductor wiring, same as the neck unit, so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splits, phase switching, or series/parallel wiring if your build allows it.
Both pickups here are finished in black and included as a matched set, and this bundle throws in a free pack of Ernie Ball EB2221 Regular Slinky strings so you’re not starting your install with dead strings.
