Description

Some players chase vintage tone by relic-ing their guitar’s finish. The Antiquity Bridge Humbucker gets you there electronically, recreating the exact feel and voice of an original PAF that’s been gigged for fifty years, not just the look of one.

Seymour Duncan built this one with a slightly hotter, better-balanced wind specifically for the bridge position, so it holds its own against a neck PAF without losing that classic warmth. Inside you’ll find plain enamel wire, a de-gaussed Alnico 2 bar magnet seated on a wooden spacer, butyrate bobbins, black paper tape, a vintage-style single-conductor lead, and a long-legged nickel-silver baseplate. Crucially, there’s no wax potting here — staying true to the original construction means the coil is left slightly microphonic, giving the pickup that airy, honky openness old PAFs are famous for.

Expect low output, smooth sustain, and a tone that’s warm and full without ever turning dark or muddy. It’s a natural match for brighter-voiced guitars and lower-wattage tube amps; this isn’t the pickup to pair with a 100-watt high-gain stack, but for anyone chasing genuine vintage humbucker character, it delivers.
