Description
The JB and Jazz have been Seymour Duncan staples since the ’70s, but the Antiquity treatment asks a different question: what would an original set from that era sound like after thirty-plus years of gigs, sweat, and stage lights? Rather than guess, Seymour drew on pickups from his own vintage guitars to build this set from the ground up.
Cosmetically, the zebra bobbins carry the aged look of hardware that’s actually lived a life on a well-worn axe. Electronically, the de-gaussed rough cast Alnico V bar magnets have been de-tuned to mimic decades of natural aging, softening the attack and rounding off the harshest edges of the classic JB/Jazz voice. What you get is still that familiar balance of sustain, grind, and clarity, just filtered through a mellower, more broken-in character rather than a brand-new one.
This is a bridge-and-neck combo built for dual-humbucker guitars, and it pairs especially well with instruments that already have some road-worn charm — the look and tone match up.
