A dog-eared bridge P-90 built and aged to sound like it just came off a ’50s Gibson, not a reissue chasing that vibe.

Description

Seymour Duncan didn’t just copy the specs of a late-’50s P-90 — they copied the process. Pull the black dog ear cover off this bridge pickup and you’ll find the same hand-wound bobbins, cloth-covered wire, and “flatback” tape construction used decades ago, no shortcuts taken for modern production speed.

Tone comes from a pair of specially calibrated Dun-Aged Alnico II magnets, mounted to a precision metal spacer that routes the magnetic field up through six fillister head pole pieces and into the strings. It’s the same signal path that gave old gold tops and ES-330s their fat, slightly compressed midrange growl and touch-sensitive dynamics — bark hard, and it barks back; play soft, and it cleans up on its own.

This is the bridge position pickup, dog ear style, mounted directly to the body rather than the pickguard, so no height adjustment screws to fuss with — just set-and-forget vintage attitude.

  • DC resistance: 8.52K ohms
  • Inductance: 7.41 henries
  • Q: 2.84
  • Magnets: two Dun-Aged Alnico II bar magnets, south polarity, calibrated
  • Mounting: dog ear cover, mounted to body (no height adjustment)
  • Cover finish: black

If you want the sound of a well-worn P-90 without actually gutting a vintage guitar to get it, this is the shortcut worth taking.
