Description
Seymour Duncan’s Antiquity series doesn’t chase vintage tone with EQ tricks—it recreates the pickup itself the old way. Pop the black dog ear cover off this neck-position P-90 and you’ll find the same hand-built bobbins, single-conductor wire, and flatback tape used in P-90s from the early ’50s through the ’59 ES-330 era. Nothing about the construction is modern shorthand.
Two Dun-Aged Alnico II bar magnets sit under a precision metal spacer that feeds the magnetic field up through six fillister pole pieces, giving that slightly loose, woody push that made the P-90 a favorite long before humbuckers showed up. This neck version reads 8.10K DC resistance with 6.85 henries of inductance, so expect a warm, articulate low end that stays clear under gain rather than getting muddy—classic P-90 growl without the harsh top end some hotter pickups carry.
Because it’s calibrated specifically as a neck pickup, it pairs correctly with its bridge counterpart if you’re going for a matched Antiquity set, though it works just as well solo in any P-90-routed guitar.
