Description
The Antiquity P-90 Soapbar Bridge isn’t a modern reinterpretation of the classic single-coil — it’s built the same way the originals were. Pop the black cover and you’ll find hand-fabricated bobbins, period-correct wire, and the same “flatback” tape Gibson used decades ago on guitars like a ’52 goldtop or a ’59 ES-330. Nothing about the construction has been modernized for convenience; it’s been kept faithful on purpose.
Doing the tonal heavy lifting are two calibrated Dun-Aged Alnico II magnets, mounted to a precision metal spacer that channels the field up through six fillister head pole pieces and into the strings. The result is that woody, slightly compressed P-90 growl with real vintage authority — more grit and midrange push than a Strat single-coil, without tipping into humbucker territory.
This bridge unit reads 8.10K DC ohms with 6.85 henries of inductance and a Q of 2.84, using south magnet polarity and two bar magnets in the standard pattern. It mounts directly to the body (no separate height-adjustment hardware), measures 3.158″ x 1.205″ across the top pickup and .640″ in total height, with the black cover adding to 3.365″ x 1.365″ x .360″.
