Description
The APH-1N is Seymour Duncan’s take on vintage-voiced PAF tone, wound to sit in the neck position where warmth and clarity matter most. An Alnico II magnet paired with moderate winding gives the string more room to breathe, translating into a rounder, softer attack than hotter Alnico V designs. Sustain stays long and natural rather than compressed.
Where this pickup really shines is with players who prefer their dirt to come from a cranked amp rather than a hot-output pickup. Back off the gain and the APH-1N cleans up into something genuinely musical – think jazz chords, blues bends, and slide work that stays articulate even at lower volumes. Push the amp harder and it still responds with touch-sensitive dynamics rather than flattening out.
Compared to Duncan’s ’59 model, the Alnico II Pro trades some upper-mid bite for a spongier, looser bass response and an overall rounder voice – a difference you’ll feel most on chords and open strings.
- Alnico II magnet for warm, moderate output
- Reverse Zebra finish – adjustable coil in black
- Four-conductor hookup cable for coil-split/phase wiring options
- No logo on the cover
- Neck position humbucker
Well suited to classic rock, blues, jazz, and slide players chasing that sweet, amp-driven breakup.
