Description
The ASB-5N Phase I is Seymour Duncan’s answer for 5-string players stuck with a Bartolini-shaped cavity who want a different flavor without reaching for a router. Built as a direct drop-in for Bartolini P2 and P4 soapbars, it slots straight into existing routes and wiring without modification.
- Active, moderate-output design voiced for a traditional, warm low end
- Split-blade construction keeps string-to-string balance even, so wide 5-string spacing never leaves a string sounding thin or buried
- High end stays detailed and natural rather than brittle — good for players who want clarity without harshness
- Ships with logo covers included
- Runs on approximately 1,000 hours of continuous playing time per 9V battery set
- Comes with the mounting and wiring hardware needed for installation
In the neck position, this pickup lays down the foundation — think rounded fundamentals and articulate note definition rather than aggressive growl, which is exactly the job a neck soapbar should do. Pair it with a matching ASB-5 bridge pickup for a balanced active set, and if you want to shape the tone further, Seymour Duncan’s STC-2 or STC-3 tone circuits are the natural companions for dialing in active EQ on the fly.
Also available in bridge configuration, and in both 5- and 6-string body styles for players running extended-range basses.
