Description
Think of the Custom 5 Trembucker as the SH-5 Custom’s more vintage-leaning cousin. Seymour Duncan’s user community swapped the ceramic/Alnico 2 magnet found in the SH-5 and SH-11 Custom for an Alnico 5, and the result is a bridge humbucker that trades some of that harder edge for warmth and clarity while keeping serious output on tap.
Clean tones come through rich, full, and forward without losing definition — you get that enhanced presence without the sound turning brittle. Push it into overdrive and it still delivers strong, powerful distortion, just with less compression and a more musical breakup than the standard Custom models. That makes it a natural fit across pop, country, blues, classic rock, and heavier rock styles where you want grit on demand but don’t want to sacrifice touch sensitivity.
- Alnico 5 magnet for vintage-flavored output with extra bottom-end depth
- Four-conductor hookup cable included for flexible wiring options
- Reverse Zebra bobbin coloring
- Trembucker spacing — designed for wider string spacing on tremolo bridges or post-1999 Gibson-style bridges
- Recommended for the bridge position
Pair it with a ’59 in the neck and you’re looking at a genuinely authentic P.A.F.-style two-pickup setup, with the Custom 5 supplying the low-end heft and punch that a stock ’59 alone can’t quite match in the bridge slot.
