Description
Dave Murray built his soaring, harmonically rich lead sound around a simple but deadly combo, and now it’s here plug-and-play on a fully loaded Stratocaster pickguard. Two Hot Rails flank a JB Jr. in the middle position, giving you the exact layout Murray relies on night after night.
- Hot Rails (bridge): thick, aggressive crunch with cutting top-end harmonics for riffing and rhythm work
- JB Jr. (middle): adds punch and clarity to positions 2, 3, and 4 without muddying things up
- Hot Rails (neck): warm, singing sustain built for expressive, vocal-like leads
Because all three pickups are stacked-coil humbucker designs, you get single-coil-style spacing and tone shaping with zero 60-cycle hum — a real advantage for high-gain rigs where noise is the enemy. Each pickup uses small ceramic magnets and 4-conductor splittable lead wire, so you can wire in coil-split options later if you want to expand the palette. Vacuum wax potting keeps everything quiet and squeal-free even at stage volume.
The pickguard itself is hand-assembled in Santa Barbara, CA, and follows the 11-screw ‘USA’ Stratocaster mounting pattern, so installation is a straightforward swap for most standard Strat bodies — no soldering marathon required. This listing is for the Black pickguard version; Pearloid and White are also available if black isn’t your look.
If you’ve been chasing Murray’s classic metal snarl and lyrical lead tone, this loaded pickguard gets you there without piecing together three separate pickups and rewiring from scratch.
