Description
The High Voltage neck pickup is built for players who want their amp doing the heavy lifting, not a pedalboard full of gain stages. Seymour Duncan reached for the classic Alnico 2 magnet that vintage-voiced humbuckers have leaned on for decades, then wound it a touch hotter to push the output and add some extra push into your amp’s front end without losing the magnet’s natural compression and smooth top end.
In the neck position, that translates to legato lines and low-string riffing that stay articulate instead of turning to mud, plus rhythm tones with enough clarity to still hear pick attack and chord voicings clearly. Roll back the volume and it cleans up into warm, glassy tones; dig in and it pushes into a rounded, singing lead voice rather than a harsh scream.
This particular pickup is part of a calibrated neck/bridge set, with the bridge unit demagnetized to keep the overall balance even across positions u2014 so if you’re pairing this neck pickup with its matching bridge, expect a cohesive voice from low to high strings rather than one pickup fighting the other.
- Alnico 2 magnet, wound for a hotter, more aggressive voice than typical vintage-style humbuckers
- 6-string uncovered humbucker dimensions (also available as a 6-string Trembucker)
- Reverse Zebra bobbin finish
- Hand-built in California by Seymour Duncan’s team of master builders
Covers the classic hard-rock spectrum u2014 crunchy rhythm, expressive cleans, and sustaining leads u2014 all from the pickup itself, not a pedal.
