Description
Some pairings just work. The SH-4 JB in the bridge and the SH-1 59 Model in the neck have been matched up by guitarists for decades, and this gold-covered set gives you both, ready to drop into any humbucker-equipped guitar.
The JB SH-4 is Duncan’s best-selling pickup for good reason. Hot coils wound around an alnico 5 bar magnet push out a forward upper-midrange growl, a low end that stays tight rather than flabby, and top-end harmonics that cut through without turning brittle. It handles everything from blues bends to full-tilt metal without losing its composure. Built by hand in Santa Barbara with a nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for split/series/parallel wiring, and vacuum wax potting to keep squeal at bay.
Up in the neck, the 59 Model SH-1N brings the big, airy PAF character that made vintage humbuckers famous, just updated with an alnico 5 magnet and wax potting so it behaves with modern strings and louder amps. Expect scooped mids, a slightly brighter top than a true vintage unit, and a rounder, more compressed response that’s equally happy under fat chords or singing leads. It’s hand-built the old-school way, using 42AWG plain enamel wire, a long-legged nickel silver bottom plate, single-conductor braided push-back lead wire, no logo on the cover, and winding done on Seymour’s original Leesona winder from the Kalamazoo Gibson factory.
- Set includes: SH-4 JB (bridge) and SH-1 59 Model (neck), both in gold covers
- Alnico 5 bar magnets in both pickups
- Vacuum wax potted for feedback resistance
- Hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA
