Description
Lari Basilio worked directly with Seymour Duncan to build a pickup set that could keep pace with her technical, melodic playing style, and this middle pickup is the unconventional piece of that puzzle. Rather than a standard Tele-style middle, it’s voiced like a Strat single coil but built to fit a Tele-style rhythm-position footprint, giving you that glassy, articulate in-between tone without altering your pickguard routing.
Magnet placement is where the detail work really shows. Under the low strings you’ll find Alnico 5 for firm, focused low-end definition, while Alnico 2 sits beneath the high strings, softening the top end just enough to keep single-coil chime from turning brittle. It’s a subtle asymmetry that gives the pickup a more balanced, musical voice across the full width of the neck.
Output is kept moderate by design, so the pickup stays dynamic and touch-responsive rather than compressed. That also means it plays well with others: combine it with the matching neck and bridge humbucker from the set, and more elaborate wiring schemes (coil splits, series/parallel switching, blending) start to open up real tonal range rather than just adding options for their own sake.
