Description
Built around Dave Mustaine’s own spec, this LiveWire active set tackles the usual active-pickup tradeoff head-on: you get the push and headroom of onboard preamp gain without the flat, sterile edge that can come with it. Seymour Duncan matched the resonant frequencies of the bridge and neck units to a classic SH-4 JB and SH-2N Jazz Model pairing, so the harmonic character that made those pickups famous carries through even as the active circuit adds serious output.
Inside, discrete Class A electronics run quiet and can be pushed up to 25 volts, opening up far more dynamic headroom than a standard 9V active rig. The coils themselves use a low-profile winding geometry that keeps efficiency high and touch dynamics responsive, so pick attack and volume-knob nuance still come through under gain. A black nickel-plated cover rounds out the look while keeping tonal coloration to a minimum.
This is a set built for players who live in the riff-heavy end of the spectrum — classic rock, punk, garage, thrash, old-school and nu-metal, black metal, and anything else that demands high-gain clarity rather than mush. Everything needed to wire it up is included: mounting hardware, pots, output jack, and battery clip.
