Description
If you love the raw, throaty bite of a P-90 but can’t stand the hum that comes with a single-coil, this stacked design solves the problem without faking the sound. Seymour Duncan built two coils into one soapbar-sized housing so they cancel noise the way a humbucker does, while keeping the open, vocal character that made P-90s famous in the first place.
- Hum-cancelling stacked-coil construction in a traditional soapbar footprint
- Four-conductor hookup wire for series, parallel, or split wiring options
- Taller .951″ height profile for setup flexibility
- Cream cover, designed for the neck position
The four-conductor wiring is where this pickup really opens up. Wire it in series and you get a fatter, more aggressive voice with plenty of push for rock rhythm and lead work. Switch to parallel wiring and the tone thins out and brightens up, landing somewhere more suited to jazz comping, blues shuffles, or twangy country lines. Splitting one coil gets you closer to a true single-coil snap if you want that option too.
Because it’s not tied to one genre or one wiring scheme, this is a pickup you can grow into as your playing changes. Drop it into the neck slot of a P-90 equipped guitar and dial in the voice that fits the song, without touching your amp settings.
