Description
Some humbuckers chase PAF nostalgia, others chase modern punch — the PA-TB3 splits the difference and lands somewhere entirely its own. Designed in Seymour Duncan’s Custom Shop for Blues Saraceno, it takes the warmth and openness of a classic PAF and pushes it into a slightly scooped, “honky” retro voice with just enough bite to stay articulate under heavy gain.
Instead of the usual paired-slug-and-screw layout, the Parallel Axis design runs dual pole pieces per string, giving the pickup a distinct pull on the strings that translates into noticeably longer sustain. Under the hood sits an Alnico 5 bar magnet for that familiar rounded low end and glassy top, wired with 4-conductor cable so you can experiment with coil splits, series/parallel switching, or whatever wiring scheme your guitar demands. Vacuum wax potting keeps things quiet even when you’re leaning hard into overdrive.
This is the Trembucker version, meaning the pole pieces are spaced wider (53mm) to line up correctly under strings on guitars with tremolo bridges or wide-spaced hardtails — anywhere the low E to high E spacing at the bridge runs 2 inches or more from center to center. Every unit is hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA.
