Description
Extended-range guitars deserve pickups designed around them, not squeezed into them. The Pegasus was engineered from the ground up for 7 and 8 string instruments, built on its own platform rather than a stretched-out 6-string design. At its core sits an alnico 5 bar magnet paired with custom winding specs tailored to the wider string spacing and lower tunings prog players demand.
Tonally, the Pegasus lands in that sweet spot between clarity and warmth. Expect a focused low end that won’t turn to mud on a low F# or lower, a forward midrange that keeps chugging riffs defined, and a resonant top end that gives chords a shimmering bloom under high-gain saturation. Pick attack comes through accurately and quickly, so complex rhythm patterns and fast lead lines stay tight rather than blurring together — whether you’re on stage fighting a loud mix or tracking in the studio.
Because output sits at a moderate level rather than max-gain territory, the Pegasus doesn’t force you into one tonal lane. Clean arpeggios ring out with body and definition, while distorted passages retain touch sensitivity instead of collapsing into fuzz.
This particular version comes in a black cover, in a passive mount configuration that drops straight into guitars with standard humbucker routing — no extra routing work required.
