Description
The PowerStage 170 solves the problem every gigging guitarist knows too well – showing up to a venue and having no idea what amp you’re plugging into. Instead of crossing your fingers on backline, you bring this compact power amp, drop it on your board, and run your own pedals or modeler straight into whatever cab is waiting for you. Your tone stays yours, night after night.
At its core is a 170-watt amp paired with a clean, transparent preamp stage, so it doesn’t color your sound the way a lot of power amps do. When you kick off your overdrive and gain pedals, it acts as a genuinely musical clean channel – warm and dynamic, not sterile. Add in the 3-band analog EQ and you’ve got a fast way to tame an unfamiliar cab or room without touching your carefully dialed-in stompbox settings.
Size-wise, it’s built to disappear into your rig: small enough for a pedalboard or gig bag, light enough that fly dates aren’t a hassle, and clean-looking enough for a coffeehouse set, a church gig, or your home practice space. The Master Volume knob is positioned so you can work it with your foot mid-song, letting you push solos or ride dynamics without breaking stride.
Like Seymour Duncan’s pickups and pedals, the PowerStage 170 is designed and built at their Santa Barbara, California factory.
