Description
The Quarter Pound Staggered takes the beefy, in-your-face voice of Seymour Duncan’s SSL-4 Quarter-Pound Flat and gives it a staggered magnet profile instead of a flat one. Same idea, different string-to-string balance — the staggered poles push output and clarity per string rather than leveling everything out evenly.
What makes this pickup punch above a typical single-coil is the hardware itself: hand-polished alnico magnets machined to a full quarter-inch diameter. That’s a lot more magnetic mass than a standard single-coil rod, and it’s paired with a heavily wound coil to match. The result is a true single-coil that hits harder, sustains longer, and still keeps that single-coil snap and articulation intact — no cover to dampen the top end, just raw coil and magnet.
It’s built for players who want single-coil character without giving up gain-stage muscle. Blues players get extra grit on bends, classic rock and garage tones get more attitude, and if you’re chasing heavy rock, classic metal, or nu-metal territory, this pickup gives you the drive to get there without switching to a humbucker.
