Description
The Quarter Pound series exists for one reason: to make a Telecaster hit harder without losing what makes a Tele a Tele. This set pairs the STR-3 neck pickup with the STL-3 black-covered bridge pickup, giving you matched output and voicing front to back instead of the usual mismatched-pickup compromise.
Both use oversized pole pieces to build a stronger magnetic field than a standard single-coil, which is what lets them run hotter without turning to mush under gain. The STL-3 bridge uses quarter-inch pole pieces and pushes output into humbucker and hot-P-90 territory — enough grunt for classic rock, jazz-rock fusion, and aggressive riff-driven playing, while a purpose-built coil winding keeps the top end articulate instead of harsh. The STR-3 neck model mirrors that tone and output but steps down to 3/16" poles for a slightly smoother neck-position feel, and comes housed under a chrome-plated brass cover.
Because they’re voiced as a true set, switching positions or blending pickups stays consistent — no sudden output jump, no tonal mismatch. They’re happy on maple or rosewood boards and suit any well-balanced Tele-style build looking for more push, particularly for overdriven and high-gain tones.
