Seymour Duncan built this one to nail the authoritative bite and characteristic snap of a vintage Tele single-coil, then housed it in a non-aged cover so it drops cleanly into a modern build without looking out of place.
The magic is in the magnets: hand-ground Alnico II rod magnets are custom-calibrated to keep the treble sweet rather than harsh, dodging the icepick highs that plague lesser Tele bridge pickups. Pair that with the vintage-correct ferrous bottom plate and you get that classic Telecaster edge-of-breakup growl — the kind of controlled snarl that makes single-note lines and chicken-pickin’ twang jump out of the mix.
Every Retrospec’d Antiquity pickup is hand-fabricated and scatter-wound in Seymour Duncan’s Custom Shop using vintage-style pushback cloth wire, then lacquered and wax potted to keep things quiet and squeal-free at higher gain.
