Description
Forget polite vintage tones — the Saturday Night Special set is Seymour Duncan’s answer to players who want more push than a 50s-style PAF but none of the squashed, over-compressed feel of a modern high-output humbucker. Wound with Alnico 4 magnets, this set lands squarely in the sweet spot between vintage warmth and 70s-era muscle.
The bridge pickup runs hotter and fatter than a traditional PAF, giving power chords and leads real grit and shove. The neck pickup, meanwhile, is voiced clearer and tighter than you’d expect, trimming the woolly mush that can bog down neck-position tone and keeping note definition intact even when you dig in hard.
These are built in Seymour Duncan’s Santa Barbara shop on the same Leesona winding machine originally used to produce PAFs back in Kalamazoo — a direct mechanical link to the pickups that started it all, tuned here for a heavier, more aggressive era of playing.
Each pickup in this gold-covered set ships with four-conductor wiring for coil-split flexibility, a maple spacer, and short mounting legs, ready to drop into most standard humbucker routs.
