Description
The SCPB-3 Quarter Pound takes the familiar single-coil Precision Bass voice and cranks the low end into something with real teeth. Those oversized, quarter-inch diameter Alnico 5 rod magnets pull harder on the strings, which means more output and a thicker, more sensitive response than you’ll get from a standard vintage-style coil — but without tipping into the compressed, less-defined territory of the Hot model. Highs stay articulate and cut through a mix, while the mids and bottom end come on strong and aggressive.
This is a straight drop-in for any American Standard single-coil P-Bass, so no routing or rewiring headaches — just pull the stock pickup and bolt this one in. Each Quarter Pound is hand-built in Santa Barbara using Forbon flatwork and finished with vacuum wax potting, keeping the coil quiet and squeal-free even when you’re digging in hard through a loud stage rig.
Good fit for players who love the punch and attitude of a single-coil P-Bass but want more push behind it — think growl, attack, and enough output to shove your amp a little harder.
