Description
Extended range guitars have a habit of turning neck pickups into mud machines, but the Sentient was engineered specifically to dodge that problem. Seymour Duncan built this one exclusively for 7 and 8-string players, pairing an alnico 5 magnet with medium strength coils to keep the low end articulate instead of woolly. The result sits somewhere between vintage PAF character and a more modern voice, giving you complex, natural warmth that still holds its shape under gain.
That balance is what makes it so versatile. Clean tones come through rich and three-dimensional rather than boxy, while high-gain riffing stays defined string to string, even down on that low B or F#. It’s a neck pickup that adds body without smearing your note attack.
Tonewood pairing
Works best on bright to semi-warm bodies, anywhere from maple to korina, matched with either maple or rosewood fingerboards – combinations that let the Sentient’s midrange complexity breathe.
