Description
Some humbuckers chase the PAF sound. The Seth Lover set IS the PAF sound, built by the man who designed the original with Seymour Duncan and hand-wound to his exact specifications in Santa Barbara. If you’re chasing that late-50s Gibson magic in a solidbody or semi-hollow, this calibrated pair gets you there without guesswork.
The neck pickup leans into that smooth, piano-like articulation – a 2.5-inch alnico 2 bar magnet rounds off the high end while vintage-style output coils pull out rich harmonic detail. Single notes ring out with a singing sustain, and the un-potted nickel silver cover adds a touch of percussive snap to the attack.
The bridge pickup balances warmth against clarity, giving you open, full-bodied chords and a soft-but-defined edge on lead lines. Together, the set covers the full spectrum of classic rock tone, from blues-y warmth to airy chime, without ever sounding harsh or brittle.
Every detail here is period-correct: 42AWG plain enamel magnet wire, custom machined metal and maple spacers, single-conductor push-back braided lead wire, and a nickel silver bottom plate. The butyrate bobbins come from the same mold used for Gibson’s original PAF, and each pickup is wound on Seymour’s own vintage Leesona machine from the early Kalamazoo factory – the same equipment that built the originals.
