Description
The SH-14 Custom 5 started as a Custom Shop experiment: guys wanted the tonal shape of the Custom humbucker but with more punch and brightness, so Seymour Duncan swapped in an Alnico 5 bar magnet and dialed up the output. What came out the other end is a bridge pickup that keeps that familiar scooped-midrange voice while hitting harder and cleaning up nicely when you back off the volume knob.
- Alnico 5 bar magnet for tighter lows and a brighter top end than ceramic-loaded high-output pickups
- Even bass-to-treble balance, so it doesn’t get muddy or shrill under gain
- Nickel silver baseplate
- 4-conductor lead wire — split coils, phase switching, series/parallel, whatever your wiring plan calls for
- Vacuum wax potted to kill microphonic squeal at stage volume
- DCR: 14.1k ohms
It’s built to be versatile rather than one-trick — works across rock, metal, blues, whatever you throw at it — and it plays especially well paired with a 59 Model or Jazz Model in the neck position if you want a coherent, balanced two-pickup setup. Hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA, like every Seymour Duncan pickup.
