Description
This is the classic Seymour Duncan combo players reach for when they want one guitar to cover both silky vintage tones and hard-hitting modern drive. The SH-1n ’59 Model handles neck duties, built to Seth Lover’s original “Patent Applied For” spec with alnico magnets, plain enamel wire, nickel-plated studs, a wooden spacer, and black paper tape holding the balanced coils together. Expect warm, smooth output with generous sustain and a rounded low end that never gets flabby.
In the bridge, the SH-5 Duncan Custom takes that same P.A.F. DNA and turns it up a notch — often described as “P.A.F. on steroids.” Its ceramic magnet and custom coil winding compress the dynamics slightly for a punchy, harmonically rich attack with a distinctive midrange and top-end bite. It stays articulate under dropped tunings without turning to mush, making it equally at home in classic rock, funk, punk, metal, or R&B. Pairing it with the SH-1n up front is a proven trick for gluing vintage-correct neck tone to a beefed-up bridge voice, and it’s especially effective on guitars with rosewood fingerboards.
Both pickups wear gold covers and ship with four-conductor lead wire for maximum switching flexibility, plus wiring diagrams and mounting screws so you’re ready to install. As a bonus, this set includes a free pack of Ernie Ball EB2627 Beefy Slinky strings to get your rewired guitar sounding its best right out of the gate.
