Description
The SH-2N Jazz Model is proof that a pickup’s name doesn’t box in its personality. Yes, it’s beloved by jazz players for its clear, articulate voice, but it’s just as at home under distortion – Randy Rhoads famously ran this exact pickup in the neck position for his signature tone.
- Moderate output with a detailed, brighter treble response compared to the SH-1 ’59 Model
- Clean tone stays articulate through fast runs and complex chord work
- Under gain, it turns full-bodied and bright with smooth, controlled sustain
- Slightly lower output than the ’59 makes it a natural match for hotter bridge pickups
- Four-conductor hookup wiring for coil-splitting and series/parallel configurations
- White cover, wound for the neck position
Because the SH-2N sits a touch cooler than a vintage-output humbucker, it tends to disappear into the background less and cut through more – which is exactly why so many players pair it in the neck with an SH-4 JB or SH-5 Duncan Custom in the bridge. That combo (Seymour’s own favorite) gives you a guitar that covers glassy cleans and searing leads without swapping instruments. Also available in a bridge-position version if you want matched Jazz Models front and back.
