Description
The SH-4 JB has been the go-to hot-rodded bridge humbucker since the early 70s, and this 7-string version brings that same alnico 5 punch to extended-range guitars. Seymour Duncan’s best-selling pickup of all time earns its reputation by refusing to be one-dimensional: it pushes upper-midrange snarl to the front while keeping the low end tight and articulate, so the extra low string stays defined instead of turning into mud.
Hot coils and that alnico 5 bar magnet give the JB its signature harmonic complexity—highs that cut through a mix without getting brittle, and enough output to drive an amp into hard rock or metal territory. It’s just as comfortable pulling duty on blues and country leads, which is exactly why it’s stayed a bridge-position staple for decades. Run it solo or team it with a Jazz neck model for the classic Hot-Rodded set, now translated to 7 strings.
Every unit is hand-built at Seymour Duncan’s Santa Barbara, CA factory with a nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for coil-splitting and series/parallel wiring options, and vacuum wax potting to keep things squeal-free at stage volume. A 7-string mounting ring is included.
