Description
Some pickups chase vintage tone. This one already caught it. The Pearly Gates bridge is Seymour Duncan’s faithful recreation of the bridge pickup pulled from Billy Gibbons’ own 1959 Les Paul — and when Seymour got his hands on the original to study it, he found it ran a touch hotter than the typical PAF of that era. That extra output is baked into every SH-PG1B, giving it the push and midrange bite that made the source pickup legendary.
An alnico 2 bar magnet handles the top end here, keeping highs open and airy rather than harsh, while a distinct midrange emphasis delivers that unmistakable Texas sizzle and growl. Drop this into any humbucker-equipped guitar and it wakes the instrument up — pair it with the Pearly Gates neck model if you want the full Gibbons voice from front to back.
Built by hand at Seymour Duncan’s Santa Barbara, CA factory, the Pearly Gates bridge features:
- Alnico 2 bar magnet for airy, focused highs with vintage character
- Nickel silver bottom plate
- 4-conductor lead wire for coil-split and series/parallel wiring flexibility
- Vacuum wax potting for squeal-free performance at higher gain
- Wound on Seymour’s original Leesona winding machine, sourced from the historic Gibson Kalamazoo factory, for authentic vintage-correct wind character
This listing is for the SH-PG1B in a custom color finish — same PAF pedigree, same Texas attitude, dressed for your build.
