Description
Stop hauling three guitars to the gig. The Seymour Duncan SHPR-1 P-Rails is a full-size humbucker built around a patent-pending mismatched coil design, but it doesn’t stop at one tone. Flip the switch and it splits down to a genuine full-size P-90, or further still into a single-coil Rail voice that nails the quack of positions 2 and 4 on a great Strat.
In humbucker mode you get a big, expansive output thanks to the deliberately mismatched coils, not the compressed, sterile sound you get from lesser splittable designs. Switch to P-90 and it turns fat, raw, and midrange-forward. Drop into single-coil Rail mode and the Alnico 5 bar magnet delivers vintage-flavored chime with none of the classic single-coil hum.
- Magnet type: Alnico 5 bar
- Position: Bridge
- Finish: Black
- Covers country, pop, surf, jazz, blues, classic rock, and heavy rock territory
For the full three-tone experience, pair this bridge unit with a matching P-Rails neck pickup. Wiring-wise, a simple two-way switch (push-pull or mini-toggle) unlocks humbucker/P-90 switching, while a three-way DPDT on-off-on switch opens up all three voices, humbucker, P-90, and single-coil Rail, for maximum flexibility.
Drops into any guitar routed for a standard humbucker or Trembucker, no modifications needed. Used alone it adds serious tonal range to your existing setup; used as a matched set, it essentially turns one guitar into three.
