Description
Why commit to one pickup voice when the SHPR-2b P-Rails Hot gives you three? Drop this into the bridge slot and you’ve got a switchable arsenal: a thick humbucker for driving rhythm, a barking P-90 for midrange snarl, and a clear single-coil for cleaning up and cutting through. It’s built for players who can’t settle on a single flavor of tone and don’t see why they should have to.
Under the hood, a pair of Alnico 8 magnets push output into ceramic-magnet territory without sacrificing the touch-sensitive sustain Alnico is loved for. The P-90 coil gets a hotter-than-standard wind with wire chosen specifically for volume and definition, so it stays loud and articulate rather than mushy. Flip into rail mode and that same Alnico 8 muscle keeps things aggressive, while series humbucker mode delivers serious size and weight.
This is a drop-in humbucker replacement, fitting standard humbucker or Trembucker routing with no modification needed. For the full three-voice experience, Seymour Duncan suggests pairing it with a standard P-Rails (sold separately) in the neck, controlled via a 2-way switch for humbucker/P-90 selection and a 3-way DPDT switch to unlock the single-coil rail sound—or simplify everything with a Triple Shot switching ring (sold separately).
- Series wiring for humbucker mode gives high-output tones suited to rock and heavier styles
- Parallel wiring produces moderate-output humbucker tones with reduced phase cancellation versus typical parallel humbuckers
- Two Alnico 8 magnets for high output with Alnico sustain characteristics
- Hot-wound P-90 coil for extra volume and clarity
- Hand-built in Santa Barbara, California
Versatile enough for any genre, this is a bridge pickup for guitarists who want options without hunting through multiple guitars to find them.
