Description
The SJ5B-67/70 takes everything that makes a great ’62-era Jazz Bass sing — that warm midrange push, the slightly gritty attack, the articulate J-bass snarl — and stretches it across five strings without losing the plot. Seymour Duncan reworked the coil geometry and winding to account for the wider string spacing and low B fundamental, so the pickup tracks evenly instead of going mushy on the bottom end.
This is the bridge unit, built with the wider cover profile found on modern 5-string Jazz basses (older instruments will want the 70-74 bridge model instead for correct fit). It ships with a black cover and is designed to pair with the matching 6770 neck pickup if you want a fully cohesive set front to back.
- Vintage output single coil, bridge position, for 5-string Jazz V basses
- Wider cover size to match modern 5-string J routing
- Voiced to preserve classic J-tone character down to low B
- Hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA
- Hand-ground Alnico 5 rod magnets
- Forbon flatwork construction
- Vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance
- Black cover included
If you love that woody, midrange-forward J-bass voice but need it to survive the low B without turning to mud, this pickup was built specifically for that job.
