Description
Seymour Duncan didn’t just approximate the original Jaguar neck pickup — they reverse-engineered it down to the manufacturing process. The SJAG-1 uses hand-ground magnetic pole pieces, the same technique Fender used decades ago, to recreate the exact tonal fingerprint of a genuine vintage unit. If you’ve ever chased that specific Jaguar twang and come up short with a generic single-coil, this is the fix.
Expect the sound the Jaguar was built for: bright, articulate, and airy on top, with a scooped midrange that lets chords bloom instead of muddying together. It’s a natural fit for surf and rockabilly leads, but the clarity and shimmer translate just as well to country twang, ska upstrokes, jangly pop, blues fills, and classic rock rhythm work.
This is the neck-position pickup, reverse-wound so it pairs hum-cancelling with the matching Jaguar bridge pickup — run them together and single-coil hiss drops away without losing any of that vintage sparkle. It ships with a waxed cloth hookup lead for period-correct wiring, though note that the metal cover and “claw” (Jaguar’s on-board mute/damper hardware) are not included, so plan your build accordingly.

- Reverse-wound for hum cancellation with the matching bridge pickup
- Waxed cloth hookup cable included
- Cover and claw not included
- Great for surf, rockabilly, country, pop, ska, blues, and classic rock
