Description
If you love the vintage Jazz Bass single-coil sound but want more push behind it, the SJB-2 set is the answer. Seymour Duncan built these off the classic Vintage design but wound the coils hotter and more aggressive, adding output and a noticeably heavier mid-range punch. The result leans into rock territory without losing the character that makes a Jazz Bass a Jazz Bass — great for pop, blues, classic rock, and heavier styles alike.
This is a calibrated neck and bridge pair, so the two pickups are matched in output for a balanced feel across the fretboard. The neck pickup is slightly narrower than the bridge, as is standard for Jazz Bass wiring, and both use RW/RP (reverse wind/reverse polarity) construction so they cancel hum when blended together. Each pickup ships with a logo cover. Players chasing extra tone-shaping control often pair this set with Seymour Duncan’s STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuits.
Rounding out the bundle is a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky bass strings (2834), gauged .045, .065, .080, .100. These are wound for a bright, balanced voice and made from carefully sourced raw materials at Ernie Ball’s Coachella Valley facility — the same strings trusted by a long list of touring and recording bassists.
