Description
Seymour Duncan’s SJM-2 set pairs the SJM-2n neck pickup with the SJM-2b “Hot” bridge unit, both built inside the familiar Jazzmaster soapbar shell that fans of the SJM-1 Vintage model will recognize at a glance. Don’t let the looks fool you, though — under the covers, Duncan reworked the coil winding to push output higher and stretch the tonal window well past what the factory pickups deliver.
- Custom-wound coils for increased output over stock Jazzmaster pickups
- Wider tonal response with added sustain and punch
- Bridge pickup (SJM-2b) is the hotter of the pair, balancing nicely against the SJM-2n neck
- Direct drop-in replacement — no routing or modification needed
- Includes wiring diagram and mounting hardware for a straightforward install
If your Jazzmaster’s offset charm has always come with a side of thin, low-output tone, this set is built to fix exactly that. You keep the twangy character and single-coil sparkle the design is known for, but with enough extra grunt to cut through a mix and sustain notes longer than the stock pickups ever could. Since it’s a true direct-fit replacement, there’s no soldering surprises or cavity carving involved — just pull the old pickups, wire in the SJM-2 set using the included diagram, and you’re back in business with a noticeably more muscular Jazzmaster.
