Description
If your Jazzmaster’s stock pickups feel a little too polite, the SJM-2 Hot Set from Seymour Duncan is the fix. Built around the same true single-coil architecture as the vintage-voiced SJM-1, this pair swaps subtlety for output — think boosted bass, thicker lower-mids, and sustain that hangs around longer than you’d expect from a Jazzmaster pickup. They still look completely stock from the outside, so nobody has to know you’re packing extra horsepower under those covers (note: covers aren’t included).
- SJM-2n — neck pickup, reverse-wound for hum-cancelling when paired with the SJM-2b bridge unit
- SJM-2b — bridge pickup, matched output and voicing to complete the set
Whether you’re chasing reverb-drenched surf twang, mellow jazz warmth, bluesy grind, or riffing into classic and heavy rock territory, this set covers the ground without losing the single-coil character that makes Jazzmasters special in the first place. It’s a straightforward drop-in replacement, so no routing or modification headaches — just more tone where you want it.
This bundle also includes a free set of Ernie Ball 2222 Hybrid Slinky strings (.009–.046), which pair a Regular Slinky-gauge top with heavier wound strings underneath. The nickel-plated steel windings sit on a hex-core for stable tuning and long life, while the tin-plated high-carbon steel plain strings keep the tone balanced from top to bottom — a solid match for the added output of your new pickups.
