Description
This Seymour Duncan set pairs the STR-1 neck pickup with the Vintage ’54 STL-1 bridge pickup, recreating the sound of a golden-era Telecaster from the ground up. Together they’re built to complement each other, so you get the classic push-pull between a mellow neck tone and a snappy, cutting bridge — no guesswork required on matching.
The STR-1 handles rhythm duties with a vintage-accurate voice that leans smooth and open, adding warm lower-mids and airy top end to balance out a bright lead pickup. It ships with a chrome-plated brass cover and waxed cloth hookup wire, and it’s built exclusively for the neck position — pair it with an STL-1 or STL-1b up front for a historically correct setup.
Up front, the STL-1 reproduces the 1954 Tele lead pickup, right down to the .187″ Alnico 5 pole pieces staggered higher under the D and G strings. That staggering is what gives these pickups their signature twangy bite. Output sits slightly below the STL-1b, trading a bit of punch for extra brightness and high-end detail — ideal if you’re chasing chicken-pickin’ snap or classic blues-rock grit. It also comes with a waxed cloth hookup cable and is intended strictly for the bridge slot.
Whether you’re into traditional country, surf, rockabilly, or blues, this combination nails the vintage Tele formula. And with a free set of Elixir Super Light strings included, you can drop these in and be gigging by the weekend.
