Description
Tim Shaw has spent decades studying what makes a humbucker actually sound like something rather than just eliminate noise, and the ShawBucker 1 is his answer to that pursuit. Rather than chasing a straight vintage clone, Shaw built this pickup as what he calls "a new take on an old perception" — keeping the hum-canceling benefits players expect from a humbucker while pushing back against the muddiness and rolled-off top end that often comes with that territory.
What you get is a pickup that stays articulate under gain and stays defined when you dig in. Notes separate cleanly within chords, pick attack comes through with real snap, and the low end doesn’t collapse into mush the way some hotter humbuckers can. It’s quiet in the way a good humbucker should be — 60-cycle hum and stage noise are kept firmly in check — but that noise rejection doesn’t come at the cost of dynamics or top-end sparkle.
- Designed by veteran pickup engineer Tim Shaw
- Classic humbucking hum-cancellation with improved clarity and note definition
- Zebra bobbin finish
If your bucker-loaded guitar has felt a little dark or compressed for your taste, this is worth a listen — it’s built to give you the quiet confidence of a humbucker without dulling the character underneath it.
